Abstract

Basic medical education constitutes the first and the most basic step of medical education. Some courses such as anatomy, biophysics, pharmacology, physiology, histology provide the basis for internal and surgical sciences. Due to both the intensity and the difficulty of these lessons, the topics are sometimes difficult to understand and are not reinforced. Especially during the pandemic period, understanding of the subjects becomes even more difficult due to the lack of applied/practical lessons with online education. It is known that simulation training helps to comprehend the subject. Therefore, the use of simulation applications in the online education provided during the pandemic process can help to understand the subject. It was aimed to evaluate the general satisfaction of the first year medical faculty students in the biophysics course of the simulation-based teaching in online education during the pandemic period. The research was conducted on 102 students. Google Survey Form was used as data collection tool. When the internal consistency of the satisfaction scale in this study was evaluated over 13 items, the total Cronbach alpha value of the scale was found to be 86%, and it was thought that the scale was a valid and reliable scale and could be used to determine the satisfaction levels of students in medical education institutions. In this study, the effect of simulation-based online education in biophysics course on medical faculty students during the pandemic period on students' satisfaction and expectation levels was investigated.
